Diggers & Dealers 2025

Managing Director & CEO Rowena Smith took to the stage at the 2025 Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum to highlight the material progress ASM has made over the past 12 months.

With expanding customer relationships, breakthrough heavy rare earth capability and a transformational approach to development of the Dubbo Project, ASM is positioned at the forefront of rare earth global supply chain diversification.

Speaking at the annual Kalgoorlie event, Rowena outlined how recent geopolitical tensions and China’s export restrictions have created unprecedented demand for ASM’s Korean Metals Plant products. Customer agreements now span magnet manufacturers across the US, Germany and Asia and are being further supported by ASM’s unique heavy rare earth metallisation capabilities.

ASM’s heavy rare earth metallisation capabilities represent a significant competitive advantage in producing critical terbium and dysprosium metals outside of China.

Equally significant is ASM’s breakthrough on the Dubbo Project, where heap leach processing offers a dramatically simplified development pathway. The revised approach delivers substantial capital cost reductions – less than 50% of the original $1.7 billion requirement – while maintaining robust economics for neodymium, praseodymium, terbium and dysprosium production.
